Description

This unique accordion piano is a one of a kind piece. Its mid-century bar top case encloses an earlier accordion which is played from the piano keyboard above. The keyboard plays both the buttons and the piano ends of the actual accordion by pushing wires through coiled spring tubes. There are stops made of thick metal wire to control the octave couplers on the front of the accordion. A swell pedal allows for louder playing via a pulley system and a shoelace. The air is supplied into a windchest by means of a 1930s metal vacuum cleaner turbine. There are lightbulbs for electrical resistance, still in their porcelain sockets. The windchest is pasted directely into the accordion bellows. Some of the keys on the piano side of the accordion do not work anymore. Some keys on the keyboard above have rusted tubes so they are not able to actuate their corresponding buttons on the accordion. Overall, This wonderful piece of homemade mechanical music is in working condition and plays well. For the problems described, I will be selling this in as-is working condition.
